Braemar Charitable Trust Scholarship in Nursing 2025

This scholarship provides partial financial support of NZD $10,000 to promising second‑year Bachelor of Nursing students at the University of Waikato who meet specific eligibility criteria.

Eligibility

• Enrolled full‑time (120 points) in the second year of the Bachelor of Nursing program.
• From a population, community, or region under‑represented in nursing and experiencing barriers to university study.
• Achieved at least a B+ average in the first year of study.
• Resident of the Waikato DHB region and intend to work in healthcare there after graduation.
• Eligible for domestic fees status (NZ citizen, permanent resident, or Australian citizen/permanent resident domiciled in NZ).

Selection Criteria

• Academic merit.
• Commitment to contributing to the NZ health sector, especially within the Waikato DHB region.
• Alignment with the scholarship’s purpose.
• Consideration of financial hardship or extraordinary personal circumstances.

Application Process

Applicants must submit an application form together with a personal statement to the University of Waikato.

Value of the Scholarship

• NZD $5,000 paid after acceptance of the scholarship or after the A Trimester withdrawal date, whichever is later.
• Additional NZD $5,000 paid after the B Trimester withdrawal date, contingent on passing all A Trimester courses.
