Canon Foundation Research Fellowships 2026

The Canon Foundation Research Fellowships 2026 provide partial funding of up to EUR 30,000 per year for research in any field. The scholarship is open to European nationals (including Israel, Turkey, Balkan and Baltic countries) and Japanese researchers. Applicants must hold at least a Master’s or PhD degree obtained within the last ten years.

Eligibility Requirements

• Be highly qualified European or Japanese researchers.
• European Fellows must plan to pursue research in Japan.
• Japanese Fellows must plan to pursue research in Europe.
• Have obtained at least a Master’s or PhD degree within the last ten years of applying.

Note: Candidates who obtained their qualification more than ten years ago may also apply, provided they submit additional supporting information.

Application Process

Submit applications via the online application form. The next application deadline is 15 September 2026 for fellowships starting between January and December 2027.

Value of the Fellowship:

The successful candidates are awarded a stipend of up to EUR 30,000 per year.
