Care Leaver Bursary at University of Greenwich 2026

The Care Leaver Bursary aims to assist students who have experienced local authority care, offering financial support throughout their undergraduate or postgraduate studies at the University of Greenwich. This award reflects the institution's dedication to expanding access and involvement in higher learning.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must hold UK nationality and be below 25 years of age.
• Applicants need to have spent a minimum of 52 consecutive weeks in the care of the local authority immediately before commencing their programme at the University of Greenwich.
• Enrolment as a full-time or part-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught student at any university campus or affiliated college is required.
• Qualification for, and receipt of, the highest level of means-tested government maintenance support, special support grants, or a government Master’s loan is necessary.

Application Process

Individuals seeking the Care Leaver Bursary are required to email the following materials to fab@gre.ac.uk:

• Full name and Student Banner identification number.
• Student Support Notification correspondence from Student Finance England.
• A signed letter on official local authority letterhead from the leaving care team verifying prior care status.

Scholarship Value

The award grants GBP 1,500 per year for the length of the programme, extending up to three or four years. An extra GBP 200 is provided in the final year to help with graduation costs.

The submission cutoff for the Care Leaver Bursary is February 28, 2026. All materials and applications must be received by this deadline.
