Care Leaver Bursary at University of Greenwich 2026

The Care Leaver Bursary is designed to support students who have been in local government care by providing financial assistance during their undergraduate or master's studies at the University of Greenwich. This bursary is part of the university's commitment to increase accessibility and participation in higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a UK national and under 25 years old.
  • Must have been in the care of the local authority for at least 52 consecutive weeks immediately prior to starting their course at the University of Greenwich.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time undergraduate or postgraduate taught student at any of the university's campuses or partner colleges.
  • Must qualify for and receive the maximum level of means-tested government maintenance, special support grants, or government Master’s loan.

Application Process

To apply for the Care Leaver Bursary, candidates must send the following documents to fab@gre.ac.uk:

  • Your full name and Student Banner ID number.
  • Your Student Support Notification letter from Student Finance England.
  • A signed letter on local authority-headed paper from your leaving care team that confirms your previous care arrangements.

Scholarship Value

The bursary provides GBP 1,500 annually for the duration of the student's course, up to three or four years. An additional GBP 200 is awarded in the final year to assist with graduation-related expenses.
