Overview
This award supports a Māori or Pasifika musician who would otherwise face financial barriers to studying music at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Identify as Māori or Pasifika
- Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
- Enroll full‑time in an undergraduate programme at the New Zealand School of Music (NZSM) the following year
- Demonstrate financial hardship
Selection
Recipients are chosen for their musical talent and potential to contribute to the NZSM community. They must maintain a B‑average GPA to retain the scholarship.

Submit a completed online application by the deadline of 01 Nov 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Scholarship Value
The scholarship provides full funding of NZD 40,000, distributed as follows:
- Year 1: NZD 10,000 (NZD 5,000 for accommodation, NZD 5,000 stipend)
- Year 2: NZD 15,000 (NZD 5,000 each for fees, accommodation, and stipend)
- Year 3: NZD 15,000 (same allocation as Year 2)
Recipients must also:
- Write a thank‑you letter to the donor and submit an annual progress summary after a review with the NZSM.
- Actively engage with the NZSM community through ensembles, presentations, or performances.
