D.F. McKenzie Award at Victoria University of Wellington 2026-27

The D.F. McKenzie Award honors the achievements of the late Professor Emeritus Don McKenzie and is open to MA and PhD students at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. The scholarship supports study in disciplines including English, Film and Theatre, Media Studies, Music, Information Management, History, Art History, Māori Studies, and Anthropology.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be enrolled in an MA or PhD program at Victoria University of Wellington in one of the specified disciplines. The award is merit-based with preference given to research aligning with Don McKenzie’s interests in bibliography, book history, theatre history, Renaissance and 18th-century drama, New Zealand theatre, and New Zealand music.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on the merits of the application, favoring candidates whose research matches Don McKenzie’s academic areas of focus.

A completed online application must be submitted by the closing date. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Recipients are required to write a letter of thanks to the donor.

Funding Value

The scholarship provides partial funding worth NZD 1,200.
