Foreign Scholarship for Study Abroad by Government of Maharashtra 2026

This scholarship is offered by the Higher & Technical Education Department, Government of Maharashtra, to support meritorious students from the state pursuing postgraduate and doctoral studies abroad. The program is open for Masters, Diploma, and PhD degree levels in various subjects.

Scholarship Value and Coverage

The selected candidates receive full funding that includes complete tuition fees, personal health insurance, a subsistence allowance, and other benefits. Additionally, round-trip economy-class air travel expenses are provided once during the course of study.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be Indian citizens and permanent domiciles of Maharashtra (including parents/guardians).
• Candidates must belong to the Open Category.
• A minimum of 55% marks is required in the qualifying degree: Bachelor’s for Master’s applicants and Postgraduate degree/diploma for PhD applicants.
• Admission must be secured in a foreign university ranked within the top 200 in the latest QS World Rankings.
• An unconditional offer letter from the university is mandatory.
• The annual family income must be below ₹8 lakhs.
• Age limits apply: maximum 35 years for Master’s and 40 years for PhD as of 1st July of the admission year.
