ICGEB Research Grants 2026 Overview
The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) provides partial funding research grants worth EUR 25,000 per annum for doctoral candidates. These grants support research in Basic Science, Human Healthcare, Industrial and Agricultural Biotechnology, and Bioenergy.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must hold positions at universities or research institutes located in ICGEB Member States.
- Active collaboration with ICGEB research groups is considered an advantage.
- Projects addressing specific geographic regions or presented by multi-country collaborating groups receive priority.
- Applicants whose institution is based in Italy are ineligible.
- Candidates must have spent a minimum of two years abroad and recently returned to an ICGEB Member State to establish an independent laboratory.

Grant Value and Benefits
Successful applicants receive an award of EUR 25,000 per year. This funding is also offered as a special category of the CRP-ICGEB Early Career Return Grants, intended to support young researchers with an outstanding track record.
