KAAD Scholarship Programme 1 2026 Overview

The KAAD Scholarship Programme 1 2026 supports academically talented students, graduates, and researchers from developing and emerging countries who wish to pursue postgraduate studies or research in Germany. This scholarship provides partial funding that varies by candidate and is available for Masters and PhD degree programmes in all subjects offered by eligible German universities.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must come from and currently reside in a developing or emerging country in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, or Latin America. Candidates must hold a university degree and have professional experience in their home country. Applicants must intend to pursue a Masters degree, PhD, other postgraduate studies, a postdoctoral project, or a research stay at a German university. While the programme primarily supports Catholic applicants, others may be considered if proposed by Catholic partners and willing to engage in interreligious dialogue. Demonstrated above-average academic or research potential and commitment to returning to and contributing to their home region after studies are required. Applicants must possess German language skills of at least B1 level, or A2 for English-language programmes, and participate in the KAAD educational programme.
