Kate Edger Practicum Awards 2025 – Overview

The Unitec Institute of Technology in Auckland, together with the New Zealand Government, offers the Kate Edger Practicum Awards to support female students who must complete a practicum as part of their degree. The award provides partial funding of NZD 7,500 for one year of study.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand.
• Identify as female.
• Be enrolled in, or have applied for, one of the following programs:
• 3rd or 4th year of a bachelor’s degree.
• A master’s degree or postgraduate diploma from the University of Auckland, Albany Campus of Massey University, AUT University, Manukau Institute of Technology, Unitec, Northland Polytechnic, or Te Whare Wānanga O Awanuiārangi, Auckland.
• Demonstrate financial need and academic excellence.

Application Process

All eligible candidates must submit an online application that includes:

• Certified copy or statutory declaration of academic records.
• Proof of New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency.
• Confirmation of a confidential reference from one referee.
• A copy of the practicum requirements signed by a university staff member.

Value of the Award

The successful applicant will receive a scholarship worth NZ $7,500.
