The Kathryn Hohlwein Poetry Award of Merit aims to foster creativity and support students of California State University, Sacramento who are pursuing English degrees at both undergraduate and graduate levels. This scholarship provides a partial award of USD 400 and is open to students of all nationalities.

Eligibility Requirements

• A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required for undergraduate and unclassified graduate students, while classified graduate students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Applicants must be majoring or minoring in English.
• Students must be enrolled full-time at the time of application and award.
• A submission of up to 3 poems, totaling no more than 5 pages, is required. Poems must be typed on standard 8.5" × 11" white paper, with a cover page including the poet's name and poem title. The poet's name should not appear on the poem pages to ensure anonymous judging.
