Macgeorge Fellowships at The University of Melbourne 2026

Field of Study
The fellowship supports research or artistic work in Arts, Music, Architecture, Conservation, Literature, Creative writing, Language, History, Philosophy, and Anthropology. It is open to students pursuing other degree levels in these fields.

Funding Value
The scholarship provides partial funding of up to AUD 15,000. A one-off payment is awarded to the host school or department. Fellows may also receive accommodation at Macgeorge House for 4–6 weeks or alternative accommodation if not housed there.

Eligibility Requirements
Nominees must be nominated by an appropriate school or department at the University of Melbourne and receive an honorary appointment as a Visitor. Successful candidates are required to deliver a public lecture or performance and a departmental seminar or postgraduate workshop during their fellowship.

Application Process
Applications are not accepted individually. Schools or departments must complete the official application form and submit it to Dr. Elizabeth Nelson at lnelson@unimelb.edu.au. The deadline for applications covering July 2027 – June 2028 is 7 September 2026 by 5:00 pm.
