Marion Rayward Memorial Scholarship in Music at Victoria University of Wellington 2025

This scholarship provides partial funding of NZD 15,000 for students pursuing postgraduate research in Music Education at the New Zealand School of Music – Te Kōkī. It is open to all nationalities and is intended for teachers or teachers‑in‑training who wish to undertake study, research, or practical work in music.

Eligibility

1. The scholarship is open to students planning postgraduate research in Music Education at the New Zealand School of Music – Te Kōkī, with preference for Master’s or Doctoral research.
2. Honours‑level research or projects that lead to a qualification or enhance professional practice may also be considered.

Selection Criteria

1. Applicants must intend to undertake research at the Master’s or PhD level; honours‑level applicants may be considered.
2. Applicants must intend to conduct research in the field of Music Education at the New Zealand School of Music, Victoria University of Wellington.

Application Process: A completed online application must be submitted by the closing date of 15 Nov 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Award: The scholarship is valued at NZD 15,000, paid as an equal monthly stipend.

Recipient Obligations:

1. Recipients must write a letter of thanks to the donor.
2. The stipend is paid monthly.
3. Recipients are expected to demonstrate engagement and contribute to the community and environment of the New Zealand School of Music, including participation in ensembles, presentations, or performances at NZSM or university events.
