Northey Prize in Immigration and Refugee Law at University of Auckland 2026

This award recognises the student with the highest grade in immigration and refugee law at the University of Auckland.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• Be enrolled at the University of Auckland.
• Achieve the highest marks in one of the following courses (or an equivalent):
  • LAWPUBL 424 – Immigration and Refugee Law
  • LAWPUBL 443 – Refugee Law
  • LAWPUBL 444 – Immigration Law
• Obtain a minimum grade of A‑.
• If those courses are not offered, submit a research essay, dissertation, thesis, or a human‑rights‑related course selected by the Dean of the Faculty of Law.

Value

The prize provides partial funding of up to NZD 1,000 per year.

Application Process

There is no separate application; students are automatically considered through nomination.
