Nyerere Scholarship at University of Edinburgh 2026

The Nyerere Scholarship is designed for Tanzanian citizens who are either current students or recent graduates of the University of Dar es Salaam. It supports studies towards a Masters degree in Africa and International Development at the University of Edinburgh.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a Tanzanian citizen domiciled in Tanzania.
• Should be a recent graduate or current student of the University of Dar es Salaam.
• Accepted into the full-time MSc Africa and International Development programme for the 2026/27 academic year.
• Demonstrate academic excellence, equivalent to a UK first-class or 2.1 Honours degree.
• Cannot hold any other scholarship funding concurrently.

Scholarship Benefits

This scholarship provides full funding, which includes:

• Tuition fees for the MSc programme.
• An annual stipend at the UKRI rate, paid in monthly installments.

It is important to note that the scholarship does not cover airfare or visa costs.

Application Process

To apply for the Nyerere Scholarship:

1. Apply first to the MSc Africa and International Development program at the University of Edinburgh.
2. Upon confirmation of your MSc application, email PGApplicationFee.sps@ed.ac.uk to inform them of your scholarship application.
3. Submit the scholarship application through the MyEd/EUCLID portal.
4. Complete all required Personal Statement questions and ensure that references are uploaded on time.
