OBURFC Rugby Scholarships at Victoria University of Wellington 2025

These scholarships support students who demonstrate both academic excellence and rugby talent, enabling them to study at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington while playing for the Old Boys’ University Rugby Football Club (OBURFC). The award provides partial funding of up to NZD 5,000 and is open to all nationalities.

Eligibility

1. Applicants must intend to play rugby for Old Boys’ University and show above‑average rugby skill alongside solid academic performance.
2. Preference is given to those experiencing financial hardship, demonstrating initiative, and able to complete their enrolled degree.

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated ability to compete at senior representative rugby level.
2. Merit endorsement in NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent) or evidence of good academic progress if currently studying at, or transferring to, Victoria University of Wellington.

Application Process

A completed online application must be submitted by the closing date of 28 February 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Award Details

The scholarship provides up to NZD 5,000 in partial funding.

Important Notes

1. The award cannot be deferred to a later year.
2. It may be held alongside other scholarships, except for other Victoria University of Wellington sports scholarships or full‑fee‑paying awards.
