Phoenix Prize for Creative Writing at University of Auckland 2026

The Phoenix Prize for Creative Writing recognizes outstanding students in the Master of Creative Writing degree at the University of Auckland. It supports the progress of a high-quality manuscript with strong commercial potential toward publication.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be enrolled in the Master of Creative Writing degree.
• The submitted manuscript must demonstrate high quality and strong potential for commercial success.
• The manuscript must be submitted for examination by 31 July in the award year.
• Applicants must submit an electronic copy of their manuscript to the Selection Committee for consideration.

Scholarship Value

One prize is awarded annually and is valued at NZD $3,500.

Application Process

No separate application is necessary; all eligible applicants are automatically considered for the scholarship.
