Overview

The Royal Geographical Society offers Postgraduate Research Awards 2026 for PhD students undertaking fieldwork or data collection in Geography and related disciplines. This scholarship provides partial funding of up to GBP 2,500 to support research expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

• Be PhD students undertaking fieldwork or data collection to advance geographical knowledge.
• Be registered at a UK Higher Education Institution.
• Not already receive full funding from a research council, university, or other comparable sources for fieldwork/data collection.
• Ensure fieldwork has not yet begun; the Society will not support fieldwork already completed.
• Not begin fieldwork before 1 April 2026, except in exceptional, approved circumstances.
• Submit a completed application form and follow the Society’s guidance for grant applicants.
