This Masters scholarship provides partial funding of up to NZD 5,000 plus compulsory fees for Māori students undertaking a thesis‑based master’s degree at the University of Auckland’s School of Environment.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be of Māori ethnicity.
• Applicants must be either a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident.
• Applicants must be enrolled, or enrolling, in the thesis component of one of the following master’s programmes:
  • Geography
  • Geophysics
  • Environmental Science
  • Environmental Management
  • Master of Arts (MA) in Geography
  • Master of Science (MSc) in Earth Sciences
• The thesis component must be worth at least 90 points in an 180‑point master’s programme.
• If the master’s programme exceeds 120 points, the candidate must be enrolled in the thesis component when the scholarship is taken up.
• Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 4.00 (or equivalent) in their most recent qualifying programme.

Selection Criteria

The selection is based on academic achievement, assessed by GPA or GPE calculated over the most recent qualifying programme.
