The Science Abroad Travelling Scholarships aim to assist PhD candidates in scientific disciplines at the University of Melbourne with funding for travel associated with their research. This award is accessible to applicants of all nationalities and provides partial financial support.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following conditions to qualify for the Science Abroad Travelling Scholarships:

• Be currently enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy—Science program.
• Have satisfied the criteria for confirmation of their candidacy.
• Intend to travel prior to their maximum course duration deadline.
• Complete travel before receiving their PhD degree.
• Present their application before submitting their thesis.

Scholarship Benefits

Recipients of the scholarship will be granted the following:

• A primary award of up to AUD $2,000 to cover international travel expenses, including attendance at physical conferences or fieldwork activities.
• A secondary award of up to AUD $500 for engagement in virtual conferences that are typically hosted outside of Australia.

Application Process

Submissions are required via the official scholarship portal no later than March 13, 2026. Individual schools within the Faculty of Science will independently evaluate applications to select the scholarship recipients.
