Sir Lloyd Geering Scholarship in Religion – Victoria University of Wellington

The Sir Lloyd Geering Scholarship provides partial funding of NZD 7,500 for postgraduate study in Religion at Victoria University of Wellington. It is awarded for the 2025‑26 academic year and is open to all nationalities.

Eligibility

Applicants must be enrolled, or intend to enrol, in a Master’s or PhD programme in Study of Religion at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. Study may be full‑time or part‑time.

Selection Criteria

Selection is based on academic merit and the quality of the proposed research project, with an emphasis on research that reflects Sir Lloyd Geering’s innovative legacy.

Application Process

A completed online application must be submitted by 4:30 pm on 31 October 2025. All required supporting documents, including references, must also be received by this deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Key Conditions

The successful recipient must write a letter of thanks to the donor. The scholarship can be awarded only once during the course of the degree, and part‑time study may result in a pro‑rated award decided by the selection panel. Interviews may be requested if deemed necessary.
