The Michael Taylor Memorial Award, established by the Tararua Tramping Club, provides partial funding of NZD 3,000 for Master’s or PhD students undertaking conservation‑focused research in the Wellington region. Eligibility Criteria

1. Applicants must be enrolled or intend to enrol full‑time or part‑time in a Master’s or PhD programme with research on conservation, biodiversity, or restoration ecology.
2. The research project must be based in and focus on the Wellington region.

Selection Criteria

1. Preference is given to candidates originally from Wellington or those already enrolled or with confirmed enrolment for the awarding year.
2. Awards are based on the merit of the research project and the overall application.

Award Details

Award amount: NZD 3,000 (partial funding).

Additional benefits: Recipients receive a one‑year membership to the Tararua Tramping Club and are expected to act as ambassadors for the Centre for Biodiversity and Restoration Ecology, presenting their research at a club meeting and providing a written report and thank‑you letter to the Club.
