Spark Scholarship 2025 Overview

The Spark Scholarship, administered by Universities New Zealand, supports female New Zealand citizens and permanent residents undertaking undergraduate studies. The award provides up to NZD 5,000 per year, renewable for up to three years, for a total maximum of NZD 15,000.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a female citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand.
• Must be enrolled or accepted into a bachelor’s degree program at a New Zealand university.
• Applicants cannot already hold an undergraduate degree or have previously completed sub‑degree studies at a New Zealand or overseas institution.
• Those with prior sub‑degree qualifications are eligible to apply.

Application Process

Eligible candidates must submit an online application that includes:

1. Nomination of two referees; for school leavers, one must be a secondary school teacher.
2. Documentation of academic achievement or relevant work experience.
3. A written response to the provided statement.

Application Deadline

All applications must be received by 01 Oct, 2025.

Scholarship Value

The scholarship offers partial funding of up to NZD 5,000 per annum, applicable for the duration of the undergraduate program, subject to renewal each year.
