University of Waikato Research Masters Scholarship 2026

The University of Waikato Research Masters Scholarship 2026 provides partial funding of up to NZD 15,000 for students pursuing a master's thesis in any discipline. This financial support is available for both domestic and international students, though the scholarship value may be reduced for part-time enrolment.

Eligibility Requirements

• Enrolment or intention to enrol full-time in a first master's degree with a 90- or 120-point thesis (593 or 594).
• Establishment of contact with a potential thesis supervisor at the University of Waikato.
• Citizenship status: NZ citizens, permanent residents, resident visa holders, Australian citizens/residents living in New Zealand, or international students who have completed (or will complete) 120 points at a New Zealand university by the application deadline.
• Applicants may have already started their thesis, with the stipend adjusted based on time remaining.

Application Process

Students must submit an application form to the university to be considered for the scholarship. The scholarship value is determined by the thesis type and points enrolled in at the start of study and throughout the scholarship tenure.
