Wagner-Torizuka Fellowship 2026: A Research Opportunity for Japanese Physicians

The Wagner-Torizuka Fellowship, supported by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), is a unique chance for Japanese nationals in the early stages of their medical careers to advance their research skills in Nuclear Medicine or Molecular Imaging Modalities in the United States or Canada.

Qualifications for Applicants

• Candidates must be permanent residents of Japan.
• Applicants must be Japanese physicians in the early stages of their careers.
• Applicants must have received their Japanese MD license within the past fifteen years.
• Fellows are required to start their fellowship in September of the award year and reside in the US or Canada during the fellowship period.

How to Apply

To be considered for the Wagner-Torizuka Fellowship, applicants must submit their application online. Key application components include:

1. Two letters of recommendation:
   • One from the applicant's supervisor or mentor in Japan.
   • Another from a qualified, independent source from the applicant's US/Canadian institution.
2. Identification of the host institution in the US or Canada, along with a support letter from the host supervisor or mentor.
3. Submission of progress reports and a final report to receive stipend payments.

Fellowship Benefits

The fellowship provides a stipend of USD 24,000 per year to help cover living and research expenses.
