Overview of the Wagner-Torizuka Fellowship 2026

The Wagner-Torizuka Fellowship, sponsored by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), is designed for Japanese nationals who are early-career physicians specializing in Nuclear Medicine or Molecular Imaging Modalities. This fellowship aims to support their research and professional development in the United States or Canada.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be permanent residents of Japan.
• Applicants must be Japanese physicians in the early stages of their careers.
• Applicants must have received their Japanese MD license no more than fifteen years from the time of application.
• Fellows are required to begin their fellowship in September of the award year and maintain residence in the US or Canada during the fellowship period.

Application Process

To apply for the Wagner-Torizuka Fellowship, candidates must submit their application online. Key components of the application include:

1. Two letters of support:
   • One from the applicant's supervisor or mentor in Japan.
   • Another from an independent, qualified source from the applicant's US/Canadian institution.
2. Identification of the host institution in the US or Canada, with one support letter from the host supervisor or mentor.
3. Submission of progress reports and a final report for stipend disbursement.

Scholarship Value

The fellowship provides a stipend of USD 24,000 per year to help cover living and research expenses.
