Weir House Alumni Scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington 2025

This scholarship provides partial funding of up to NZD 5,000 for first‑year students who are residents of Weir House and would otherwise be unable to afford accommodation. It is open exclusively to New Zealand citizens or permanent residents who are eligible for a student allowance.

Eligibility

Applicants must be full‑time Year 13 students, New Zealand citizens or permanent residents, and meet the student allowance criteria.

Selection

Selection favours students living outside the Wellington region (beyond the Otaki‑Upper Hutt to South line) and considers academic merit as reflected by school or NZQA results.

Application Process

A completed online application must be submitted by 4:30 pm on 1 October 2025. Supporting documents and references must also be received by that time. Late or incomplete applications are not accepted.

Award amount: NZD 5,000.

1. Accommodation is provided in a twin‑share room for the year, with no upgrades permitted. Recipients cover the Registration and Activities Fee, Residents' Association Fee, and a refundable deposit, which may be adjusted for any personal or shared loss or damage.
2. Recipients may hold other awards simultaneously, but the scholarship cannot be combined with another accommodation scholarship. They must write a thank‑you letter to the donor and submit an end‑of‑year progress report.
3. The scholarship cannot be deferred to a later year.
4. The scholarship may be held alongside other awards.
