Whakaeke Poneke - MinterEllisonRuddWatts First in Whanau Award at Victoria University of Wellington 2025

This award provides Partial Funding, NZD 5,000 to Māori students pursuing an undergraduate law degree who are the first in their immediate family to attend university.

Eligible applicants must be of Māori descent, New Zealand citizens or permanent residents, and have completed at least three compulsory second-year law courses. They must also plan to continue their LLB at Victoria University of Wellington the following year.

Application Process: Submit a completed online application by the deadline of 25 July 2025. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Award Details: The scholarship is valued at NZD 5,000 and is tax-free under current legislation, though this status is not guaranteed.

Selection Criteria: Recipients are chosen based on academic achievement, passion for a legal career, and potential to contribute to the profession. Personal circumstances, including financial hardship, are also considered.
