For students testing outside the U.S., the current SAT registration fee is $68 plus a $43 international fee, according to College Board’s international fee page.

How Much Are SAT Exam Fees in India?

For Indian students, the SAT exam fees in India generally start with the international SAT cost of $111, before any taxes, payment processing, currency conversion, or location-specific charges shown during checkout.

College Board also lists a $24 test-center fee for select international locations, but India is not listed among the known locations in the current College Board list shown on the international fees page. Students should still confirm the final amount during registration because charges can vary by test center and date.

SAT Fee Waiver Eligibility

SAT fee waiver eligibility is limited. College Board says SAT fee waivers are available to low-income 11th- and 12th-grade students in the U.S. or U.S. territories, and to U.S. citizens living abroad.

You may be eligible if:

You qualify for the National School Lunch Program.
Your family income meets USDA income eligibility guidelines.
You are enrolled in a low-income student support program.
Your family receives public assistance.
You are unhoused, in foster care, or in federally subsidized housing.
You are a ward of the state or an orphan.

Eligible students can request a fee waiver through a school counselor or directly from College Board. College Board recommends requesting it at least 1–2 weeks before the registration deadline.

How to get it

Request a fee waiver code from your school counselor (codes start with “FW25” for 2025–26) or apply directly through the College Board. Enter the code during SAT registration on collegeboard.org.

For families with limited financial means, the expenses associated with the SAT can be a significant burden. You can alleviate this financial strain by utilizing the College Board’s fee waiver program.

Cancellations

If you cancel, unused fee waiver benefits are returned to your account with no cancellation fee.

How to Access Your SAT Fee Waiver

There are two ways to activate your benefits:

Fee waiver code — Enter your code on your My SAT dashboard or during SAT registration at collegeboard.org. Benefits load automatically; you won’t need to enter the code again.
Fee Waiver Request Form — Complete the form at satfeewaiverform.collegeboard.org. Once approved, benefits appear in your My SAT account.

Codes are available from your school counselor or directly from the College Board. For 2025–26, codes begin with “FW25.”

If your benefits don’t appear, contact your school counselor or the College Board directly.

Cancellations: If you cancel your registration, unused fee waiver benefits are returned to your account with no cancellation fee.

Can Indian Students Get SAT Fee Waivers?

Most Indian citizens living in India do not qualify for the standard College Board SAT fee waiver unless they meet College Board’s stated eligibility category, such as being a U.S. citizen living abroad.

Indian students should check for current India-specific College Board programs, school-based support, scholarships, or university application-fee waivers. Do not assume a waiver is available until it appears in your College Board account or is confirmed by an official counselor.

When it comes to SAT exam fees, cash payments are not accepted. If you choose to pay by check or money order, online registration is unavailable, and you must complete your registration by mail. To facilitate your SAT fee payment, you can use the following methods:

Credit Cards: You can make payments using various credit cards, including American Express, Discover, Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, and JCB.
PayPal: For new PayPal users, it’s essential to set up your PayPal account before initiating the SAT registration process. Please note that PayPal payment is not available in Ghana.
Check or Money Order: Make checks or money orders payable to “The College Board.” It’s important to use checks drawn from U.S. banks, as any checks drawn on non-U.S. banks will not be accepted.
